I'm Nurgül Ergün, graduated from Kocaeli University in 2018 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Since the year I started university I have been taking lessons in painting and art history to improve myself. After taking those lessons my passion has evolved and built my curiosity about art.
During taking painting lessons there was a moment that the energy I felt transcended my being, and it put me in a state of questioning about this feeling. I believe I was lost in the creative flow. Since then, I have been trying to chase this moment of awareness and this feeling by art which help me to discover it. I believe that art is the most fundamental and original form of expression so I want to share my ideas and find answer to questions in my mind through art. I am very interested in the experience of flow and disappearance in the process of creating art.
Nature, human relationships and my own inner world are the sources that inspire me the most. I am also inspired by the work of other artists. I am fascinated by Van Gogh's relationship between his drawing and his paint and the questions he raises in Letters to Theo, while in Leonardo's notebooks I find traces of how I should work. Also Alberto Giacometti's painting and sculpture works make me see an artist's search for his own voice, his works support me in my own work process.
